ZENOBIA – the Singer

“Zenobia has always been one of my favorite singers of all time!”

– Arnold McCuller, Singer with James Taylor, Bonnie Raitt, Phil Collins

“Zenobia has the unique perspective of being on “both side of the lens” as both a performer and producer of music. Magic happens when working with her!”

– Will Lee, Bass Player & Singer on David Letterman Show, member of The Fab Faux

“Zenobia has a history that goes back to her Broadway days. She is an accomplished songwriter and session singer who has now branched out on a SMOKIN’ solo career. Zenobia is in the honorable alumni of lefty guitar players. I personally co-sign her efforts.”

– Ronny Drayton, Guitarist for Alicia Keys, Patti LaBelle, M’shell Ndegeocello, Nona Hendryx, The Family Stand, Parliament Funkadelic, founder of No 4th Man

“Zenobia first blew me away singing an a capella number in Riverside Church; the hairs on the back of my neck stood up and I knew I was in the presence of someone with a divine gift from the Creator. Today she keeps me dancing all night long in Santa Fe and Albuquerque, NM where she belts out the blues, connecting to deep emotions with her smooth-yet-spicy voice. She makes every song her own. Can’t wait for the next album!

– Gwen Goldsmith, Performer

About Zenobia’s debut CD: HOME – Released 2000

“This CD has a great variety of sound & emotional expression. The words will move you. I highly recommend this CD to everyone to buy & listen to. My favorite is Little Buddha, I can relate to it like it was written for me.”

Strong lyrics & emotions that convey power & sensitivity. Fantastic! – Logua

“HOME is a fantastic mood-setter, melodic and multidimensional, tender and uplifting. Zenobia shows an enviable–a perfect–ability to be in touch with the times. This is music you want to pop on after a fine dinner with friends, a way to share the closeness of the moment without being sentimental.

As a singer-songwriter-performer, Zenobia brings tremendous integrity to her music, never letting it sag into monotone or melodrama, always stepping forward with lyrical and musical delight.

HOME has a unique blend of musical combinations, without ever losing its centrality and oneness. I love the pop sound of “Persistence of the Heart,” the first track, which runs layers deep with joy, spirituality and determination; and “Love Hurts,” the 7th track, which tells a sad tale of loves that cross in the night, but is so sweet that it makes everything alright. But I am equally entranced by “Going Down,” which combines several women’s voices with Zenobia’s in a beautiful mix of gospel-pop, a ballad of modern troubles that draws to mind a double-flowing mix of Sweet Honey in the Rock and Sarah McLaughlin. And I like the global beat of “Pensando en Ti,” and listen again and again to the light and meditative instrumental “Little Buddha.”

I play HOME when I’m surfing the web or working at my computer … it keeps me inspired. I’m very glad I found “Home” — am impressed by the scope and the range of this woman’s creativity. I very much recommend this album as a refreshing break from the mass-production mold and a discovery well worth passing on. “Home” deserves a place on the rack — it’s sure to sooth the soul. WHY ISN’T THIS IN THE STORES…?”

A mellow and melodic delight, Cindy Cooper

“A terrific set of pop and ballad and R&B songs. My wife first played this and now I’m hooked but I would never have heard it if I went to a Sam Goody’s – don’t know why…”

– Jim Glanzer

HOME is a fantastic set of songs which reaches your heart. The lyrics are pure, direct and personal. “Going Down”, a song of a brother imprisoned, an unwed mother, a father’s coping, strikes straight to the soul of America. This is, simply, a very good CD.”

– Soul wrenching and personal, Robert Crane
